Another hilarious moment happened when a friend brought his dog along. One evening, as we set up for our usual stargazing session, my friend Mark brought along his golden retriever, Max\u2014an energetic ball of fur with an obsession for chasing anything that moved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I switched on my red 650nm laser pointer<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to highlight Jupiter\u2019s position, a tiny crimson dot appeared on the ground. Max\u2019s ears perked up. His head tilted. Then\u2014zoom!\u2014he pounced like his life depended on catching that elusive speck of light.\u00a0The curious pup saw the laser dot on the ground and started running in circles, trying to catch it. We had to quickly aim the beam at the sky to avoid distracting him (and ourselves!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What followed was pure comedy. Max sprinted in wild circles, paws skidding on the grass. Every time the dot “escaped,” he\u2019d bark as if betrayed by physics itself. Our star charts flew everywhere as we scrambled to lift the beam skyward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rescue Mission<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Realizing Max wouldn\u2019t quit until the “enemy dot” was vanquished, I quickly aimed the laser at the constellation Leo. The pup stared upward, baffled that his prey had somehow fled to the cosmos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark sighed: “Well, there g<\/em>oes our peaceful astronomy night.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
